Analysis Report on Capacity of Cargo Carriers for Coastal Interprovincial Transportation in 2022

I. Capacity ofDry Bulk Carriers

As of December 31, 2022, there were 2,427 dry bulk carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation (over 10,000T, excluding general carrier, such as heavy and lengthy cargo carrier and multi-purpose carrier, the same below) with a capacity of 79.824 million DWT in total (the DWT was changed for some carriers after survey, with an increase of 1,000 DWT in total), and 192 carriers with a capacity of 4.884 million DWT were increased compared to those at the end of 2021, with an increase of 6.5% in DWT. In 2022, 299 carriers with a capacity of 8.07 million DWT were added. Except that 11 carriers with a capacity of 569,000 DWT were forcibly scrapped, the enterprise adjusted its capacity structure, and 96 carriers with a capacity of 2.618 million DWT were withdrew from the market.

The average age of dry bulk carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation is 10.6 years, with a decrease of 0.4 years compared to that at the end of 2021.Among them, there were 253 old carriers (over 18 years old) and 23 special survey carriers (over 28 years old), accounting for 10.4% and 0.9% of the total number of carriers respectively.Compared to those at the end of 2021, the old carriers and special survey carriers are decreased by 1.1% and 0.4% respectively.

II. Capacity of Container Carriers

As of December 31, 2022, there were 350 container carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation (over 700 TEU, excluding multi-purpose carriers, the same below) with a capacity of 830,000 TEU, and 28 container carriers with a capacity of 42,000 TEU were increased compared to those at the end of 2021, with an increase of 5.4% in TEU. In 2022, 47 container carriers with a capacity of 81,000 TEU were added, no container carriers were forcibly scrapped, and 19 container carriers (with a capacity of 39,000 TEU) were early withdrew from the market in total.

The average age of container carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation is 9.3 years, with a decrease of 0.6 years compared to that at the end of 2021.Among them, there were 32 old container carriers (over 20 years old) and 3 special survey container carriers (over 29 years old), accounting for 9.1% and 0.9% of the total number of container carriers respectively.Compared to those at the end of 2021, the old container carriers were decreased by 2.7%, and the number of special survey container carriers was the same as that at the end of 2021, with a decrease of 0.1% in number of container carriers.

III. Capacity of Liquid and Dangerous Cargo Carriers

(I) Oil Carrier

As of December 31, 2022, there were 1,194 oil carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation (including crude oil carrier and product oil carrier, excluding oil/chemical carriers) with a capacity of 11.422 million DWT in total (the DWT was changed for some oil carriers after survey, with a decrease of 17,000 DWT in total), 30 oil carriers were decreased compared to the same period last year, but 281,000 DWT were increased, with an increase of 2.5% in DWT. In 2022, 57 oil carriers with a capacity of 578,000 DWT were added, and 87 oil carriers with a capacity of 280,000 DWT were early withdrew from the market.

The average age of oil carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation is 11.0 years, with an increase of 0.2 years compared to that at the end of 2021.Among them, there were 503 old oil carriers (over 12 years old) and 2 special survey oil carriers (over 26 years old), accounting for 42.1% and 0.2% of the total number of oil carriers respectively.Compared to those at the end of 2021, 34 old oil carriers were increased, with an increase of 7.2%, and 1 special survey oil carrier was decreased, with a decrease of 33.3%.

(II) Chemical Carrier

As of December 31, 2022, there were 287 chemical carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation (including oil/chemical carrier, the same below) with a capacity of 1.399 million DWT in total, and 3 chemical carriers with a capacity of 110,000 DWT were increased compared to the same period last year (the DWT was changed for some chemical carriers after survey, with a decrease of 2,000 DWT in total), with an increase of 8.5% in DWT. In 2022, 28 chemical carriers with a capacity of 188,000 DWT were added, and 25 chemical carriers with a capacity of 76,000 DWT were early withdrew from the market.

The average age of chemical carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation is 10.8 years, with a decrease of 0.4 years compared to that at the end of 2021.Among them, there were 135 old chemical carriers (over 12 years old) and 1 special survey chemical carrier (over 26 years old), accounting for 47.0% and 0.3% of the total number of chemical carriers respectively.The number of old chemical carriers was the same as that at the end of 2021, and the special survey chemical carriers was decreased by 2 compared to that at the end of 2021, with a decrease of 66.7%.

(III) Liquified Gas Carrier

As of December 31, 2022, there were 80 liquified gas carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation with a capacity of 288,000 DWT in total, and 3 liquified gas carriers with a capacity of 22,000 DWT were increased compared to the same period last year, with an increase of 8.2% in DWT. In 2022, 6 liquified gas carriers with a capacity of 28,000 DWT were added. Except that 3 liquified gas carriers with a capacity of 6,000 DWT were forcibly scrapped, no liquified gas carriers were early withdrew from the market.

The average age of liquified gas carriers for coastal interprovincial transportation is 13.1 years, with a decrease of 0.6 years compared to that at the end of 2021. Among them, there were 39 old liquified gas carriers (over 12 years old) and 5 special survey liquified gas carriers (over 26 years old), accounting for 48.8% and 6.3% of the total number of liquified gas carriers respectively. The number of old and special survey liquified gas carriers was the same as that at the end of 2021.
